Sauti duo was established at the end of 2018 by the percussionists Magdalena Myrczik (Poland) and David Almagro (Spain), with the idea of presenting to the public the richness of sound (sauti in Swahili) and the timbre of percussion instruments. They have performed multiple times in Poland, Spain, and the USA, also participating in festivals such as the PercussionFest (Vigo), China-Europe Festival (Wroclaw), Fest_Mus (Castellon).
One of their interests is the promotion of modern and contemporary music (especially from their countries of origin) which has led them to establish contact with composers like Mateusz Ryczek (first recording and national premiere of Braid of Andromeda), Alina Dzieciol and Fran Barajas (commissions for percussion duo pieces) and also engaging with composers such as Andrew Thomas and José Manuel López López, conducting interviews for educational purposes.
Another particular interest is creating a social impact through music, which has led them to create their most personal project in 2023, #Ecosophy, which has already been selected in festivals such as „Vecindario“ or „Partides“.
Their performances have been praised for their great unity and interpretative quality, thanks to which they are winners of the 1st prize in the Villa de Cox national chamber music competition, the 1st prize in Percute international competition, the 2nd Prize in the International Re_Cre@competition, 3rd prize in the OPUS 21 international chamber music competition, and a 3rd prize in the Antón García Abril international chamber music competition.
